When temperatures start to rise as we progress
through March and April, the sugars in this
young spring grass will start to rise and
this is the dangerous time.
Equimins designed Laminator some years
ago to try to do everything possible in
a supplement to alleviate this very serious
annual situation.
First of all we make it in powder or pellets
to give horses and owners a choice of the
most suitable way of administering it. The
pellets are made in a cold pelleting process
so that we don’t degrade any of the important
ingredients with heat, as in most other
pelleting processes.
Laminator contains a bioflavanoid called
Hesperadin which is commonly used in human
preparations for people who suffer with
blood pressure. It works with Ascorbic acid
(Vitamin C) to make the small blood capillaries
more elastic so improving blood flow to
the laminar corum.
Then we include a very unique and digestible
organic source of zinc to help encourage
strong keratin growth. Many forms of zinc
are not very digestible for a horse, they
are for a cow, which has four stomachs to
break it down but not a horse. A digestible
source of zinc is absolutely essential,
and no other company has the technical ability
to do produce zinc in this way.
There is a particular strain of saccharomyces
cerivisae yeast to greatly assist the digestion
of new young grass in the hind gut, again
vitally important. There are also prebiotics
to keep the gut wall healthy.
High levels of organic magnesium, manganese
and antioxidants Vitamin C and E are included
to help purge any free radicals. All this
combined with a high level of Biotin
(Vitamin H) combine to make Laminator probably
the best hope there is in helping to combat
this annual problem.
Of course, nobody knows exactly what brings
laminitis on but it is widely accepted that
interruption to the blood flow in the laminar
corum is a cause.
Good pasture management is equally important
keeping the horse or pony on a very tight
pasture and some hay going in at night,
if possible, all helps.
