Hay fever is neigh-longer a problem for horses

- With launch of new 100% natural allergy blocker, NostrilVet -

Seasonal allergic rhinitis, otherwise known as equine hay fever, is a common condition seen in horses. But with the peak season just around the corner, British horse owners can now be more prepared thanks to Nostrilvet – a new 100% natural allergy blocker, the first of its type – that stop allergies in their track.

Symptoms of equine hay fever include eye discharge, head shaking, coughing and fatigue with horses also becoming more vulnerable to virus and bacterial infections as a result.

Triggered by pollen, dust mite and mould spores from hay or straw, owners can take measures to minimise hay fever symptoms in horses such as keeping stables as dust free as possible, soaking hay in water before feeding and using Nostrilvet to limit the amount of pollen and dust inhaled by the horse.

Nostrilvet is a clinically proven, unique and natural nasal powder spray that delivers fast and effective protection for your horse against mould from straw, mite, dust, pollen and other airborne allergens that causes allergic reactions such as coughing, heaves, runny nose, and other similar symptoms.

NostrilVet has been developed based on the unique mode of action of Nasaleze which is used for the treatment and prevention of hay fever symptoms in humans. The unique blend of cellulose in Nostrilvet works by forming a colourless, thin mucus gel lining in the nasal tract. This acts as a filter for pollen, dust and germs to treat the cause rather than just the symptoms of equestrian hay fever. Studies have shown that by naturally enhancing the protective barrier of the nostril cavitation, it is possible to filter out airborne allergens1.

A pilot study is currently underway at the prestigious Bollerup Horse Clinic in Sweden using Nostrilvet to treat horses with hay fever. The initial results are strong with 9 out of 10 horses experiencing immediate relief.

Leading veterinarian, Ann Ganheim of the Bollerup Horse Clinic in Sweden, says of the trial: ‘As horses breathe through their noses, it’s imperative to try and keep their nasal tract in full working order which can often prove difficult during peak hay fever season. By puffing a plume of Nostrilvet into each nostril, a gel is created which enhances the protective purpose of the mucus membrane. The protective gel then catches any airborne allergens preventing them from entering the body and causing an allergic interaction.

‘We are currently conducting a pilot study using Nostrilvet to treat equestrian hay fever and results so far have been very positive. Our testers have noted a distinct improvement in the day-to-day quality of life for the horses.’

NostrilVet’s unique blend of cellulose meets both the highest purity and safety standards, thanks to its natural plant base. Suitable for professional and domestic horses, Nostrilvet will not restrict horses in competing in professional events because it contains no drugs and is 100% natural.

Nostrilvet costs £30 for a twin pack and is available from www.nostrilvet.com
